The Non-Midas touch
I don’t know what it is about computers and me lately but I seem to have the “midas touch”…of course I’m being facetious. I’ve had to RMA(return materials authorization) 4 hard drives in the past month. Just got the last 2 in yesterday. Had a 300GB drive fail at home, another 200GB is currently failing, my portable 250GB is also failing, oh yeah and one my workstations at the office had a failed hard drive. Today however I’m seeing some flakiness with my Dell Optiplex at the office. Memory write errors. I hate those. RAM can be so flaky that a memory test doesn’t always catch bad RAM. I’ve been running diagnostics on my work puter this morning hoping to narrow something down. I hope I do find something wrong so I can get the part replaced and have a stable computer. Perhaps their quality control’s gone down the toilet…this computer is less than 6 mo. old!
